I keep seeing more and more about 'The REAL ID' yet I'm never interested enough to read into what this newly signed NH law means for security restrictions. Since I fly to Vegas quite often and I currently don't have a passport, I did the research and I have boiled it down to the most important thing you need to know.

This is the current deadline for non-compliant driver's licenses. If you don't believe me, perhaps you'll believe The Department Of Homeland Security.

I am happy to know that I won't have to worry about anything for at least another 18 months.

Fortunately, my current license expires this September and hopefully I'll be able to submit my birth certificate and social security number to the DMV when I renew my license and I'll be issued 'REAL ID' compliant license. This will be meet all federal security requirements to pass screening at all airports for domestic travel.

The new law gives Granite Staters the option to carry a Non-Compliant Driver ID. I have searched the internet for over an hour trying to find an exception or loophole that would allow someone to pass through airplane security WITHOUT a passport and a 'REAL ID' AFTER THE DEADLINE of 1/22/18. As far as I know this will be impossible.

If you're like me and haven't paid any attention to this law to this point, do not have a passport and enjoy flying domestically, PLEASE make a note of the date JANUARY 22, 2018. Don't say I didn't warn you!
