Yes, you read the headline correctly. The 7 and 1 Patriots have traded All Pro linebacker Jamie Collins to the Cleveland Browns.

So, what are the Patriots getting? Not much. They receive a conditional 3rd round pick which they get in 2017.

Seems like a strange move at this point in the season, 7 and 1 heading into the bye week, but Collins was going to be a free agent after the season.

According to reports, contract demands would prevent the Pats from signing Collins to a long term deal.

They might have received a compensatory 3rd round pick in 2018 by letting him walk, but by dealing him now, they get the pick in 2017.

I don't know, the defense hasn't been great this season so maybe Belichick is sending a message or shaking things up, tough to say, all I know is that I trust in Belichick, so I'm not worried.

GO PATS!!
