Owl sightings are happening everywhere in New England and many encounters are making the news here in NH. The reason for it hasn't been reported upon nearly enough in my opinion.

It's mating season! As any bird nerd worth their  feathers will tell you, the wise and secretive ways of the owl go completely out the window during their mating season every spring.

Or in the window in this case, or against a moving car or attacking someone in broad daylight. This activity is all in an effort to search for and show off for prospective mates.

The sensationalism of 'Owls Gone MAD!' from the media always seems to overshadow this natural fact. In a couple of weeks these nocturnal winged wizards will return to their normal secluded mode and everyone will remain blissfully ignorant again until next Spring.
