August 3rd, 1971
Paul McCartney announces the formation of 'Wings' featuring former Moody Blues member Denny Laine. The band would last for a decade, breaking up in 1981.
August 4th, 1975
Robert Plant and his wife were injured badly in a car accident on the Greek island of Rhodes. Plant smashed both his ankle and his elbow, and took just about 2 years to fully recover. A North American tour had to be cancelled.
August 5th, 1972
Aerosmith is signed for $125,000 to CBS Records after boss Clive Davis saw them play at Max's Kansas City Club New York.
August 6th, 1973
Stevie Wonder was seriously injured when the car he was riding in crashed into a truck near Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Stevie was in a coma for 4 days, and the accident left him without the sense of smell.
August 7th, 1974
In one of the odd couplings, J.Geils Band frontman Peter Wolf married actress Faye Dunaway in Beverly Hills The marriage lasted 5 years.
