The Newsweek ranking of the best high schools in the country is based on which schools best prepare students for college.

Those who look back fondly on their high school experience would probably say that their school was "the best." Newsweek has the numbers to show which high schools are actually better using data collected from across the country.

Three New Hampshire high schools made their list of the top 500 in America, which was assembled by looking at performance and specific data related to student success. Newsweek looked at number of counselor FTE college acceptance and enrollment, SAT and ACT participation and performance, AP, IB, and AICE participation and performance as well as dual enrollments.

The high schools from New Hampshire that made the list this year are:

44: Academy for Science and Design (Nashua)

College Readiness - 86.7

Graduation Rate - 100

College Bound - 100

301: Hollis-Brookline High School (Hollis)

College Readiness - 77.1

Graduation Rate - 100

College Bound - 90.9

361: Coe-Brown Northwood Academy (Northwood)

College Readiness - 74.4

Graduation Rate - 100

College Bound - 79.2
