As a child of the 70's, I faintly remember Muhammad Ali having his own cartoon. Nobody else seems to remember it though and I'm glad I found this episode online to prove I wasn't delusional as a 4 year old.

There's a reason nobody remembers this cliche 1970's animated 'classic'. It was only on for 13 weeks in the Fall of 1977 before it got cancelled.

I still blame Ali's loss to Leon Spinks that following February on this cancellation. How is an icon supposed to cope with that kind of rejection AND defend his heavyweight title?

For my money 'I Am The Greatest' is far better animated entertainment than any digitally produced junk that you see on Saturday mornings nowadays. If only that show was given the chance to grow, I think it would have developed into a legendary piece on the Mount Rushmore of TV shows. OK, now I am being delusional.
