Top 3 Reasons I Miss Purity Supreme Supermarkets
This Throwback Thursday post features my Top 3 favorite things about Purity Supreme Supermarkets, a local grocery with over 60 locations in New England. After 1997, they ceased to exist.
3. Free Samples
Their deli was the first room you walked into when entering the North Main Street address in Rochester where Home Depot and Hannaford are currently located. You would find platters of the finest meats and cheeses all with toothpicks ready for you to try. A magical experience for a cold cut loving youth like myself.
2. Bountiful Soda Choices
The image above does zero justice in illustrating the dozens of choices of delicious flavors of Purity Supreme brand sodas. Black Cherry, Lemon Lime, Strawberry, Half and Half (Grapefruit and Lemon), Blue Raspberry and on and on and on. They even had Birch Beer (whatever the hell that is?) GLORIOUS.
1. Sour Macaroni Salad
Yes, this sounds nasty but I swear it was the best mac salad in the history of noodles. I don't know if they used vinegar or lemon juice as an ingredient? But PS mac salad was indescribably better than any I've ever tasted and it cannot be replicated. I've tried. Several times. Cannot be done. I must end this post now and go weep softly in a dark corner of the studio.
