You might have noticed tree service trucks trimming around power lines around the area.

Somewhere at the end of the white extension pole is a tree trimmer in a bucket 60 feet off the ground trying to keep me from losing my power the next time we get a heavy snow or heavy winds.

Thankfully most of the snow we received last winter was of the light, fluffy variety. The power lines that lead to my house are surrounded by pine trees, whose branches love to hold the heavy, sticky snow.

You get a few inches of that type of snow, and down goes the branches, if not the tree, and maybe your power lines. It makes for a long winter when you're always worried you might lose your power with every storm.

So seeing these fellas in front of my house today was as welcome as going to the mailbox and seeing my tax return.

I tried getting them to trim up the bushes and shrubs around the house to no avail.
