UNH Stabbing Suspects Sent a Snapchat of the Crime

The students had allegedly sent out a picture of their bloody hands and the weapon after the assault.

An investigation into a horrific attack on a University of New Hampshire student on Saturday was aided by a social media post from the suspects themselves.

UNH students Matthew Gibbons and Eric Denning sent out a Snapchat photo of bloody hands and a knife after allegedly stabbing a 20-year-old student, according to Seacoast Online.

The Snapchat photo, which usually disappear after someone else receives it through the mobile app, was screenshotted by another student and shown to police investigating the crime. The victim survived the attack and was being treated for his injuries on Monday.

People always talk about how the younger generation is oversharing on social media, but I'm glad criminals are also following that trend. Anything that helps police find their suspects is fine in my book and I hope that idiots continue to think that photographing their crimes is a good idea.

It is so crazy how criminals are now using social media to not only brag about their exploits, but also taunt law enforcement. They must feel like they are untouchable and cannot possible be caught through a Facebook comment or tweet, but they would be wrong.

So to all the criminals out there: keep on Snapchatting, Instagramming, Facebooking and Tweeting out your misdeeds. I'm sure there is a police officer out there who would love to follow you and bring you something much more interesting than a "like."
