According to a story in Foster's, Madison's Cafe in South Berwick is going to close for good on November 30th.

Nicole McCoomb and Sean Roy opened up Madison's with the intention of giving people with developmental disabilities a job.  The cafe was inspired by Nicole's daughter and according to the report, "ridiculous overhead" has made it impossible for them to continue as is.

My step-daughter has Down Syndrome and she wants to feel like she is contributing, just like everyone else.  When we are at the grocery store, she will take all the groceries out of the cart and put it up on the counter for the cashier to ring up.  She loves it and I am thankful that the cashiers are patient enough to wait until all the groceries are out of the cart.  (She's not the fastest at anything.)  It seems like such a little thing, but she is so happy to know that she is being useful.

I am hopeful that the owners of the cafe will find some sort of solution for this beautiful cafe.  They are hoping for a miracle and a GoFundMe page has been set up if people want to make a donation.
