The Portsmouth water park got so crowded so quickly on a sweltering Sunday that it feared visitors would retaliate after being turned away.

Nasty, hot weather means great business for water parks, but our own destination in Portsmouth was a little too popular over the weekend.

The Seacoast Online reports that police were called to Water Country on Sunday as a precaution against patrons who were giving staff a "difficult time."

Staff had to close the gates in the afternoon on Sunday because it had already filled to capacity. Traffic had also been a serious issue as families tried to make it into the water park and cool off.

Things seemed to calm down when police arrived and no incidents were reported. I'm surprised there wasn't a riot with the heat being so bad on Sunday. If the heat continues, and water parks are still full, we can always stock up on kiddie pools.
