Based in Quincy, MA this retail chain of department stores were found all throughout the Northeast region from 1958 - 2001 and thanks to Jonathan's Newington Mall recollections, I just solved a big mystery.

The Police - Synchronicity II (1983) from MTV The First Wave 1981 -1983 on Vimeo.

Bradlees at The Newington Mall is where I bought my first vinyl albums! The Police 'Synchronicity' AND Men at Work 'Cargo'. I remember them being $6 a piece which seems like about $600 now. Even though inflation has this exchange at about $28.50.

I could never figure out the actual name of the place where I purchased them. I always said "either a Zayre's or an Ames" but without a doubt it was Bradlees!

It did change to 'Ames' later on in the 80's and both Bradlees and Ames became defunct in 2001 and 2002 respectively.

It's funny, I didn't even know for sure that this was the place I purchased those records until about 8 this morning and the 'Going Out Of Business' commercial above is making me sad. I must go home now and listen to 'King Of Pain' to soothe my soul.
