The iconic red, white and blue label that symbolizes that delicious All-American golden lager from Wisconsin...has gone from Milwaukee to Moscow. For those of us that are frequently on a budget and in a bar room, dollar PBR's are magical. That's what makes this news so hard to take.

Instead of cursing the darkness, I prefer to look back by lighting the nostalgic candle that is YouTube. You're allowed to pound down the final cans in the back of your fridge as you watch, as they were no doubt purchased when this nectar was still brewed in the good ole USA.

I remember this ad from the early 80's, I probably watched it between segments of "ABC's Wide World of Sports" with Howard Cosell bloviating for hours about barrel jumping. I think the competitive power lifting circuit is a very under-marketed group and perhaps PBR's abandonment of that key demo was a cause of their selling out the brand to the land of Ivan Drago.

Pabst actually moved to Los Angeles from Milwaukee and one of my favorite 'B' movies (when I was 10 years old) was Midnight Madness. This scene was filmed at the brewery in LA LA land and the green team's reverence for PBR (at :40) still makes me laugh.

Beer drinkers of New Hampshire! Do not fret at this revolting development. Coming up in November, The Shark will be heavily involved with Granite State on Tap and we can't wait to see you there!

Just one final request, I'm pretty sure Fish may have drank nothing but PBR from 2004 through 2009... so if you could please keep this story to yourself, I don't think he'd ever get over it.
