The recall includes frozen pepperoni pizza.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that Whole Foods is recalling over 70,000 pounds of pepperoni pizza after the product was labeled improperly.

The pizzas were labeled as containing uncured beef pepperoni, however the pizza actually contains uncured pork pepperoni.

The fresh pizza items were produced Jan. 5, 2015, through Jan. 22, 2016. The following products are subject to recall:

  • 10-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of “WHOLE FOODS MARKETS, PIZZA, PEPPERONI, 8”.

  • 19-oz. vacuum-sealed packages of “WHOLE FOODS MARKETS, PIZZA, PEPPERONI, 12”.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 20234” inside the USDA mark of inspection and Sell-by dates of Jan. 12, 2015 through Jan. 30, 2016 printed on the packaging. These items were shipped for wholesale and retail sale in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island.

If you have these product in your home, you should either throw away the pizza or returned it to the place of purchase.
