Why Does Soda Taste So Much Better in a Glass Bottle?

There are two reasons, but it is a hotly contested debate that rages in the community of people that are passionate about their ice cold soda.

According to Glass Is Life, glass bottles are totally impermeable which is why a glass soda bottle will not go flat for a very long time. Plastic bottles are porous and the carbonation will escape from it slowly but enough to degrade the soda's freshness and quality.

I have also read that glass has taste neutrality, while plastic does not. However, I've known a lot of soda delivery people who will get very angry if you suggest that the plastic they use is altering the soda's flavor.

Just a warning, do not suggest this neutrality/plastic tasting theory to any soda employee unless you want to get 'popped' in the jaw.
