I drink a shake for breakfast every day and have been doing so for about four months now. Here are the ingredients:
1 1/2 Cups of Almond Milk
2 handfuls of fresh spinach
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 cup of frozen cherries
1 scoop of vanilla protein (20g protein)
I know from the picture it looks awful, but it's pretty good, and it keeps me full until lunchtime. I like the idea that it's vegan, even the protein powder. I'm not a vegan, but I appreciate those who are and at some point, I'd like to make the switch BACK to vegan.
See, I was vegan for a while and ended up GAINING weight. You can, absolutely gain weight if you eat a plant based diet. Pasta is vegan. Lots of bread types - vegan. Soy products, which is a staple of a vegan diet, is not necessarily good for everyone who might be trying to lose a few pounds. And don't even talk to me about desserts. Soooo many desserts can be made without dairy. I think I ate them all.
Anyway, this shake is really good. You can switch out the fruits if you want to whatever floats your fancy. The spinach, powder and almond milk are always the same.
If you're thinking of going vegan, good luck, but remember, as my trainer always tells me, you can't outrun your bad diet, so even though those brownies are made with black beans, sugar is sugar, baby.
