As the heat cranks up and we all begin to look for ways to cool down, there's a natural pull to look for a body of water to dive into. Sure, Maine and New Hampshire have plenty of streams, ponds, lakes, and even the wide open ocean where you can take the temperature down a few notches. But sometimes, you'd rather just have the privacy and relaxation that comes with a good old-fashioned pool. Don't have any friends that can hook you up? No problem. There's a new service that exists where you can RENT other people's private pools.

It's called Swimply, and while it has definitely caught on in other parts of the country (mainly places like California, Florida, and Arizona), it hasn't become the major hit it could be in New England quite yet. The premise is simple: if you're a homeowner with a pool that you don't plan on using every day, you can list it to be rented. You can name your price, whether the rental is hourly or for a full day, and can even cap the number of guests that would be allowed for a rental. Just like searching for an Airbnb, hopeful swimmers peruse the listings and can then make a reservation.

There are currently no listings in Maine, but there are a couple of listings in New Hampshire. On a hot day (and there will be many this summer), you could rent a private, above ground pool for up to eight people at just $44 bucks per hour. As the service catches on, there's likely to be more pools available in the not-too-distant future.
