This is certainly good news as we head towards the winter doldrums.

The U.S. Energy Department predicted Tuesday that because of lower energy prices and warmer weather across much of the country, many U.S. households can expect to save hundreds of dollars this winter.

If you heat with oil or propane, you could expect the biggest savings. According to the AP, "the government predicts a 25% drop for homes using heating oil, and an 18% drop for homes using propane, compared to last winter."

The Energy Department also said that heating bills for homes using natural gas could drop 10% and homes using electricity should drop 3%.

Certainly as we face another 5-6 months of hibernation, it would be nice to pay a little less to warm our caves.
