I think we were all pretty shocked when we woke up on the morning of Saturday January 14th,  2023 and heard the news that the winning ticket for one of the largest lottery jackpots ever had been sold in the State of Maine.

It was a Mega Millions ticket for a jackpot that was just over $1.3 BILLION.

We quickly learned that the winning ticket had been sold at a small, locally owned convenience store, in the Town of Lebanon.  That store, Hometown Gas & Grill, sat just a mile or so from the Maine / New Hampshire border.

Not all that shocking, the ticketholder chose to remain anonymous.  The person (who we can now assume is a man) ended up claiming the winnings as an LLC called LaKoma Island Investments.

The article explains that the winner reportedly took the lump sum of $723 million.

Now, we are getting word that the ticketholder is in the process of suing the mother of his child.

According to an article on the WGME website, the winner is accusing the woman of breaking a non-disclosure agreement by speaking about his lottery win to his family members.

Basically, the plaintiff, who is listed as "John Doe", is claiming that her speaking to people has endangered his safety.

He is seeking the names of everyone she told about the immense lottery win.  We assume that is so that he can track them down to get them to sign non-disclosure agreements.  He is also seeing monetary damages of at least $100,000.

Of course, he is entitled to sue for whatever he likes, but isn't it kind of ironic that a person who won hundreds of millions of dollars is asking for $100,000 in damages?  It would probably be a lot easier to sell the case if all he wanted was the names of those who had been told about the win.
