There is nothing better than the holiday season, which not only reunites us with our family and loved ones but also gives us the comfort of home-cooked food.

I may be biased, but I'm so lucky to live in Maine when the holidays come around. We get the fireplace crackling, we have snow to really set the Hallmark scene, and we have the best foods.

Not only can we sneak in some of our famous seafoods, whether it’s in hors d’oeuvres or the main meal, but our mashed potatoes and pies cannot be beat.

One tradition within my family for Christmas is lobster stew. My dad makes it every year, and it’s incredible. And for the family members who don’t eat seafood, since we’re all Franco-American, we always have a tourtière pie option, which is absolutely delicious.

Spending the holidays with our loved ones is so important, and it’s even better when we get to enjoy foods that bring back old memories or get us in the kitchen making new ones. There’s nothing better than eating a bunch of food, playing games, and making memories with your family.

Just don’t forget your Tupperware for leftovers!

With the amazing maple syrup we have in Maine, the fresh blueberries, and the best seafood, many of our holiday dishes are made even more memorable thanks to these local treasures.
