If you grew up in New England, you are very familiar with some of the things we'll eat up here in the Northeast corner of America. Not everyone is on board with this list of the weirdest foods in every New England state, but there are plenty who still indulge in things others may just not understand.

The website Far & Wide compiled a list of the weirdest foods in every state in the country. So that we're not here all day, let's just go over the five New England States to see what they came up with as the weirdest food for each.

Maine: Tomalley

I love lobster. I don't love the tomalley. I feel like it's only old men who love it because that's what I remembered when camping at Winslow Park in Freeport.

For the uninformed, the tomalley is the organ that does what our liver and pancreas do. It handles the functions of both the liver and the pancreas, which are two separate organs in humans, but one in a lobster.. Tomalley is green and gross-looking, and I feel like only true, die-hard Mainers love it.  Blech.

New Hampshire: Grape-Nuts Ice Cream

There's someone in my house who eats Grape-Nuts, and I don't know why. It looks like dirt to me. And New Hampshire, as well as Maine, really seems to love it. You do you, boo.

Vermont: Sugar on Snow

Dear Vermont, do you know that kind of grossness is in snow? Dogs pee in that stuff. So you're telling me you want to dig up some snow and pour some sugar on it? This ain't Def Leppard.

Massachusetts: Chow Mein Sandwich

Some guy invented the Chow Mein Sandwich in Massachusetts in the 1930s, and people actually liked it. I thought a sandwich was supposed to be something that fits between two pieces of bread or a roll. This looks messier than a sloppy joe.

Connecticut: Clam Pizza

I could eat pizza every ding dong day if I let myself. Some weeks, I do let myself. But I'm a standard kind of pizza guy. Pepperoni, sausage, hamburger, onions, green peppers, cheese....clams? No Connecticut. Just no.

Rhode Island: Chop Suey Sandwich

Rhode Island told Massachusetts, "Hold my beer," and made the chow mein sandwich look like child's play. This is the chop suey sandwich. I really think both Massachusetts and Rhode Island don't know what the definition of a sandwich is.
