Fall in Maine means corn mazes, pumpkin picking, festivals, leaf peeping, cider and, of course, apple picking.

USA Today recently revealed its top 10 orchards in the nation, and a lone Pine Tree State location earned some deserved recognition.

Libby & Son U-Picks in Limerick, Maine, garnered the No. 2 spot for the 2024 list.

According to Maineapples.org, the family-owned and operated farm has grown fruit since the 1950s and has over 18 acres of apple trees producing delicious apples.

Libby & Son U-Picks lists over 15 kinds of apples you can get, including Honeycrisp, Macoun, Blondee, Gala, Ginger Gold, McIntosh, Cortland, Crab Apples, Fuji, Macoun, Empire, Jonagold, Golden Delicious, Red Delicious, Northern Spy, Paula Red and Zestar.

Make sure to check with the farm or its website to see which ones are ready for picking or have been picked out for the season.

The best time to pick apples? The farm's website provides a helpful chart that shows it's about mid-August through October.

Libby & Son U-Picks previously landed the No. 1 spot on USA Today's 2023 list, so it's no surprise to see them make the top 10 a year later.

They said on their website that this newest award "reflects the hard work and love that our staff and family pour into our orchard every day."

Did you know that in addition to all the apple fun you can have, the farm is full of other activities and foods for you to enjoy when you visit?

There are food trucks, live music, homemade donuts, fresh fruit smoothies, and yes, even a bar for some beers and mimosas.

Libby & Son U-Picks might just land on your fall experience bucket list, complete with its ripe, flavorful apples and scenic views. After all, it is officially one of the top apple orchards in the country.
