
Checkers Burger Chain Finally Opening in New England
The battle of the burger chains in America has been going on for decades. For most people in New England, that battle has seemingly been between three places, McDonald's, Wendy's and Burger King.
But over the last decade, some emerging burger chains have begun to creep their way into New England, hoping to test the waters and potentially challenge McDonald's, Wendy's and Burger King for supremacy.
One of the most popular burger chains in the south is ready to see if there's an appetite for what they serve up as they officially open their first location in New England.
Checkers Opens First New England Location in Worcester, Massachusetts
According to the Worcester Business Journal, Checkers is set to dip their toes into the New England market with a new location at 99 Gold Star Boulevard that once housed a Honey Dew Donuts.
It'll be a unique location for Checkers, which is a rare fast-food chain that typically ignores indoor seating and focuses strictly on drive-thru business. The Checkers in Worcester will operate with both indoor and outdoor seating alongside a drive-thru.
What Makes Checkers Restaurant So Popular?
Checkers has become a massively popular restaurant in the southeast thanks to a few standards. Their burgers, chicken sandwiches and hot dogs are popular menu items.
But their signature fries are the top seller. Checkers fries have become so popular thanks to special seasoning blend that many grocery stores across New England sell them in the frozen section.
Will Checkers Expand Beyond Massachusetts?
It's likely Checkers will continue their expansion in New England as long this first location in Worcester finds success. A different fast-food franchises, Raising Cane's, initially dipped their toes into New England and immediately found success. Their expansion throughout the region is ongoing.
