Which vulture is more aggressive?
According to the National Audubon Society, Black Vultures are far more aggressive than Turkey Vultures especially when feeding or defending territory. Unlike turkey vultures, black vultures have been observed attacking and killing small or vulnerable animals, including newborn livestock.
A user named Pat Barbour posted on the U Local New Hampshire Facebook page some photos of a Black Vulture hanging out on his deck in Lee, New Hampshire. His cat Snickers was very fascinated by this new and exciting creature.
After learning how aggressive Black Vultures can be, it's a good thing Snickers was protected behind glass!
Another good thing to know about these feisty birds is they spit a highly acidic substance as a defense mechanism when they feel threatened. This acidic vomit, which is a mixture of stomach acid and semi-digested food, is strong enough to cause a burning sensation in the eyes of predators!
