Ohio State Coaches, National Title Holders, Hail from New Hampshire
Perhaps it is old news by now that Ohio State won the National College Football championship. It had been over a decade since the last time Buckeyes held this title so it was a momentous occasion to say the least. If you were rooting for the underdogs (Notre Dame) in this game, it just wasn't the cards for the fighting Irish fans.
When was the last time Notre Dame won the National Championship?
Talk about being overdue for a win, Notre Dame hasn't won this title since 1988! (Great year, by the way. That's the year this author was born)
But back to the Buckeyes. We are happy for them! They have a great team and excellent coaches that have helped earn this well deserved title.
Our New Hampshire Connection to Ohio State Buckeyes Football
According to WMUR, both Ohio State coaches hail from New Hampshire. Are we surprised? Of course not! This state breeds champions. We already knew that.
Ryan Day is the teams head coach and Chip Kelly is the Buckeye's offensive coordinator. Both graduated from Manchester Central and the University of New Hampshire.
Though helping the Buckeyes reach their championship potential was exciting, this is not Ryan's first rodeo. He also won a state championship as the quarterback of Manchester Central back in1995. GO, LITTLE GREEN!
Ryan went on to be the quarterback at UNH with Chip as his offensive coordinator. The have worked together throughout their careers and were paired together in the NFL with the Eagles and 49ers.
It is always super exciting to see fellow Granite Staters performing at the top of their field. It is so impressive and inspiring! Congrats to Coach Day and Coach Kelly. Take some time to celebrate and soak in this victory, you earned it! We hope you know how proud your home state is of you and all you have achieved.
