Exeter, New Hampshire, Community Confused and Sad About Beloved Brewery Closing
Well, this is a bummer! When I saw the news that Sawbelly Brewing will be closing their doors in a few weeks, I had the exact same reaction as the rest of the community. WHY?!
When you move somewhere new and you get the lay of the land, you find some places that you just click with right away. You think to yourself, or perhaps out loud: "Oh, this is going to be our place". Sawbelly was that place for us when we moved to Hampton.
It was the first place we tried in the area! We were starving after unpacking our boxes in our new house and saw that there was a cute little brewery just 10 minutes away. We got super chummy with out waitress Jess that night (who feels like a friend at this point). I was in a girl dinner kind of mood and ordered one of their charcuterie boards as my meal. It was one of the best decisions I ever made:
We came back many times over the following months as I was growing baby Gwen in my belly. I craved their burgers and fries all through out my pregnancy. Can you blame me?
Then when I was on maternity leave we came back with our little nugget and she napped while we soaked up one of our first times venturing out of the house since having her. We certainly looked like sleep deprived creatures from the planet Sweatpants but no one ever judged us at Sawbelly. That's one of the things we love about it.
We even celebrated our first Father's Day at Sawbelly for brunch. Steven and Gwen had matching shirts. We had a blast sitting outside and jamming to the live music.
If this news is also hitting you in the feelings, make sure you pop in and pay them a visit before they close on October 13th. I know I will be heading in for one last Picked Pearl (the real ones know what I'm talking about)
Whatever goes in this building next, they have some big shoes to fill. Thanks for the memories, Sawbelly. The Seacoast will miss you!
