Waterville Valley New Ski Lift, New Hampshire

Waterville Valley just announced a brand new T-Bar coming to the resort for next ski season.

A T-Bar is a type of lift where skiers and snowboarders grab onto a T-shaped bar that is attached like a bungee cord to a moving cable. So you do not strap in, sit on a lift, ...you hold onto the T that is moving you up the mountain.

The new lift got some social media attention when it was announced that it was the LONGEST T-BAR lift in America.

That was posted on April Fools Day, but the new lift IS REAL.

So, no, it won't be going over 8,000 feet long like the prank said; however, it will be traveling (still impressive) 2,226 feet up 602 feet of elevation.

With the real plan for the new lift to travel at 500 feet per minute, it has the ability to transport 1,100 skiers per hour.
