1 p.m. UPDATE: Maine State Police said Susan Hayes has been safely located.

Maine State Police issued a Silver Alert for a 70-year-old Kittery woman who is believed to have wandered away on foot from her home on Tuesday morning.

Susan Hayes' husband said he woke up around 5:30 a.m. and his wife was not there. She was last seen at their house on Picott Road around midnight, according to Maine State Police. It's not clear where she was may have gone. Hayes has some cognitive issues, police said.

Hayes is described is 5 feet 2 inches and 115 pounds with gray hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing a blue jeans, a blue hat, and ankle boots.

State Police asked anyone who may see her to make sure she is okay and then call Kittery Police at 207-439-1638.
