It's National Cat Day and we had SO MANY great photos that were shared by Shark Nation on our Facebook page it makes me feel like I'm not alone in my feline love.

Don't get me wrong, I love animals, dogs, horses, bunnies, but I have a special soft spot for cats.  Here are three solid reasons why I just love them:

  • You can leave cats alone and they won't break your heart as you close the door.  I've had dogs and cats in my life and truly, dogs will tear your heart open with sadness and guilt as you walk out the door to go to work.  You can't seem to explain to them that you need to go to work in order to feed their furry faces, they just don't care.  Dogs want to come with you and will give you guilt face until you just cry.  Cats, on the other hand, will look at you sideways as you try to say goodbye and continue to clean its butt.
  • You don't have to walk a cat.  They are purrrfectly happy doing their business in a cat box - as long as it's clean.  If it's not, God help you because they will pee and poop everywhere they feel like it because you are lazy and won't change their litter boxes.
  • When you have friends come over, the cat is not going to jump all over them.  They will either a) not give two craps about your company or b) go in to hiding and you won't see the cat for the duration of the visit.  Unless of course, you have a sleep over guest and that person dares to sleep on, near or by the cat's sleeping spot.  In which case, Fluffy the Feline will claw their eyes out without a hint of regret or remorse.

I do miss my cats every. single. day.  My husband is allergic to them, so I don't have one currently, but I'm not dead yet.  And neither is my husband, so a cat-less life I shall lead and I will continue my visits to the NHSPCA.
