5 Indoor Activities to Tire out Your Child so You Can Take a Nap

My wife works on Saturday's, which means I am left to entertain our almost 2 year old daughter by myself, all day. Not an easy task, especially during the cold months.

We have a blast doing all sorts of fun things inside, but by noon, I'm out of ideas and wiped out. No problem. I have learned that these 5 indoor activities will tire out your child, so you can both take a nap.

1. Indoor Race Track

My daughter likes to drive her Minnie Mouse train all over the house, it's not motorized, so she has to move it herself. This is certainly an activity that will tire out your child, especially when the dog gets involved. A good time for everyone!

2. Dance Party!

Everyone loves a dance party! My daughter carries this mini boom box with her and dance parties pop up all over the house. Kids love to dance, the longer they boogie, the longer they sleep.

3. Household Chores

I don't understand it, but some kids like to vacuum. I hear they grow out of this, so take advantage of it while you can. Vacuuming will wear your child out and clean your floors!

4. Ball Pit

For those of you unfamiliar with this gem, it's an indoor ball pit. Doesn't cost much, and kids love it. You don't have to do anything. They enter the pit, jump around and throw the balls. Then they pass out. Very simple.

5. Trampoline Time

Finally we come to the most effective indoor activity to tire out your child. Jumping on the trampoline. My daughter will jump on this thing until she is too exhausted to talk. The only thing you have to do here, is encourage more jumping, oh, and make sure your child is safe.

So, here are 5 indoor activities that I use to tire out my daughter so that we can both take a nap. The mid day nap allows both of us to recharge so that we can continue to play late into the afternoon, and be in a pleasant mood when mom comes home.
