Align Credit Union truly embraces the credit union philosophy of "people helping people," especially through their community involvement. They are our sponsor for the Year of Service 2021, joining a decades-long tradition of our powerful radio stations offering free advertising to select local nonprofits. Align Credit Union is invested in helping their members reach their financial goals and supporting the communities they serve.

This month, they're helping us shine a spotlight on the Trans NH Bike Ride for MDA, which is offering virtual options in addition to three in-person routes for this year's charity ride. For the in-person events on June 27, riders can choose 25, 50 and 100 mile routes, with rolling starts that support social distancing and rest stops and support vehicles along the routes. So far, they have raised about $15,000 toward their $100,000 goal, which benefits the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The Trans NH Bike Ride for MDA itself started in 1988 and has left a mark on its participants. According to the organization's website:

The ride has challenged both the swift and the steady, and all come away from it with a sense of accomplishment that’s different than that from just 'any' bike ride. Friendships are renewed every year with those who wouldn’t think of missing this ride. Just ride it once and you’ll why people return year after year. The cause, the camaraderie, the support and the challenge make the Trans NH Bike Ride a very special ride — unlike one you’ll find anywhere else.

This year's ride is dedicated to Keegan and Sarah. Keegan, whose father also suffers from muscular dystrophy, was diagnosed with the disease at age 18. The diagnosis ended his international career as a freestyle skier, but he has since taken up golfing and competes nationally.
