Are Cougars Really Extinct In Maine?

Wildlife officials in Maine say cougars are extinct even after reported sightings, according to WMTW's David Charns. Cougars are also called eastern pumas, catamounts, and mountain lions.

In the photo above, which Charns shared on his Facebook page, it looks like a cougar is walking by a truck. Doug Jencks of Washburn took the picture, and he's convinced it is the rare cat as per WMTW.
