New Hampshire Native Adam Sandler Created the Most Hilarious Character Now Ranked as the Biggest Jerk in Pop Culture

Leave it to our country's obsession with pop culture to create a competition with a March Madness-style bracket to find out who the biggest pop culture jerk is out of 64 characters.  This spans television and movies, including cartoons and reality shows, where the jerk is anywhere from cringeworthy to absolutely hilarious.  Boy do we love to see them tumble.

So here we go with the biggest jerk in pop culture, according to a website called The Ringer.  When it came down to it, a movie from New Hampshire's own Adam Sandler won the title, with the character of Shooter McGavin.  He's from the hit comedy Happy Gilmore, and played by Christopher McDonald.  And boy did he play Shooter as the perfect stereotypical, arrogant, wealthy country club snob to a tee, pardon the pun.

If you're not familiar, the character of Happy Gilmore, played by Adam, is in a 1996 comedy of the same name about a washed-up ice hockey player who discovers he's awesome at golf.  He takes his unorthodox ways and his powerful golf swing and lands in golf tournaments against Shooter, who tries to sabotage Happy.

So who did Shooter beat?  According to The Ringer, he beat out Eric Cartman from South Park in the final round, with 54% of the vote.  Other jerks in the the competition include Draco Malfoy, Gollum, and Stifler from American Pie, Newman from Seinfeld, Jerry from Tom & Jerry, Biff from Back to the Future, Phil Connors from Groundhog Day, Larry David from Curb Your Enthusiasm, Ramona from Real Housewives of Orange County, and yes, even Jim from The Office, who only made it to round two, thank goodness.

The Final Four came down to Shooter, Cartman, Biff, and Larry David, as you can see in the this bracket from The Ringer.
