Over the next couple of weeks, students and faculty will see a change coming to the UNH Dining Services.

On their website, UNH Hospitality Services has announced they are going strawless. Their press release says they have joined the movement of going strawless in order to help reduce plastic in our oceans. Plastic straws are one of the top plastic products found during beach cleanups and in oceans across the globe.

Over the next two weeks, straws will begin to be phased out and replaced with new sip-through lids, which are 100% recyclable. This will take place at all UNH campus cafes and dining halls. UNH does say that compostable straws will be available upon request for those with disabilities and the UNH Dairy Bar will be offering the sip-through lids for fountain beverages along with compostable straws for any frozen drinks served.

UNH Dining says the unique new design allows thier customers to enjoy cold beverages while also reducing their carbon footprint. Keep an eye out for the new lids that will be showing up at all locations over the next two weeks!
