The world famous train mountain train was simply celebrating it's 150th anniversary, when it was thrown into action rescuing an injured hiker.

Last weekend was monumental for the Cog Railway. While in the midst of a special celebration commentating the 150th year of operation, Mt Washington's iconic train suddenly sprung into action.

According to WMUR News 9, The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department says a hiker was hurt and not able to continue while scaling the mountain. They needed special assistance from The Cog, which mainly carries passengers in a tour of the mountain in part because the person in need of aid is an amputee.

Michael Couch of Atlanta, Indiana was hiking to the summit to raise money for his foundation, Lost Limbs Foundation, the news station reported.

After calling for assistance, Fish and Game say the 46 year-old Counch was then brought down by the train, WMUR stated. The entire rescue clocked in just under an hour.

The railway found an engineer and brakeman, and sent up a rescue crew.
