An incredibly sad story about an animal shelter being robbed has been turned into a happy one thanks to donors.

The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire had over 500 pounds of pet food stolen on Saturday. The thief broke in and cleaned out their supply bit by bit, including 15 pounds of dog treats.

Police are still investigating the robbery, which was caught on surveillance camera, but so far there is light at the end of the tunnel for this non-profit.

Donors have flooded the Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire with pet food to replace the supply that was stolen. It looks like pet-lovers and kind donors have lifted the spirits of the non-profit. Here is what they posted on their Facebook page on Sunday.

A day that began with sadness and shock, ended up filling our hearts over-the-top! We were confident we would replace the stolen food, but your support - the support from our community - far exceeded our wildest expectations! We are overwhelmed by the generosity of hundreds of people. You knew you could help, and you did! We will be making a plan to ensure that your donations help as many pets and families as possible. Thank you all for rallying with us, and proving that most people are good people. If you have pet food you would still like to drop off, we will be here all day tomorrow. Monetary donations are always helpful, and can be made online at www.rescueleague.org/donate. We're grateful to be a part of your community!

Kudos to all the donors who have transformed a sad weekend into something much, much better. The thief may be missing a heart, but there seems to be plenty of "heart" to go around in New Hampshire right now.

Anyone with any information about this break-in, should call the Bedford Police Department at 603-472-5113.
