Dover NH’s Most Irrelevant Road Sign
I'm not angry, more like disappointed.
I have been driving up and down Middle Road at all hours of the day and night for the past 18 years. When I first saw this sign, at the eastbound fork where Back Road and Middle Road meet in the Autumn of 2002, I was excited.
I thought for sure that I'd be seeing horse carts, sulkies and plow shares being pulled by Belgians, Clydesdales and Percherons across a bucolic landscape reminiscent of the 19th century.
WRONG
Eighteen years have passed and I've never seen a horse, let alone a cart, anywhere near this sign.
For those of you that may see this sign and absolutely MUST see a draft horse I shall give you directions with my limited Microsoft Paint skills.
Take the Back Road at the fork and it will quickly turn into Henry Law Ave. After a quarter mile you'll veer to the left and at the top of a lengthy hill, you'll see at least a couple of large horses behind a gate.
I guarantee they will look more realistic than the ten story sized hideous horse caricature that I have drawn on this map.
