Gas Light Fire Relief: GoFundMe Page Set Up, Fundraiser Event Planned
The fundraising effort for Gas Light employees continues to grow with a GoFundMe page set up, and an event planned for next week.
It was only a few days ago that a four-alarm fire ripped through The Portsmouth Gas Light, destroying the restaurant and leaving many employees without a job, or income to count on.
A GoFundMe page set up to help Gas Light employees get through the holidays has raised over $8,000 as of Tuesday and looks to hit $20,000 for its goal. A wonderful idea from Jim Doyle, a friend of the restaurant's owners.
Meanwhile, a fundraiser event is planned for Monday, December 21 with proceeds going to employees of the Gas Light. The event will be from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Portsmouth Harbor Events & Conference Center.
According to SeacoastOnline.com, more details on the event will be announced as they develop, but Gas Light spokesman, Travis Glazier, said he hopes people will save the date.
