As a proud 1991 graduate of Spaulding High School, I'm now a huge fan of the Oyster River Bobcats and it's all because of a great act of sportsmanship.

Unfortunately, the rest of the season was quickly put in jeopardy as a COVID outbreak caused the entire city school system to make a difficult decision.

Alas, like a Marvel Super Hero, here come the Mighty Bobcats to help save the season!

For many years Spaulding has played in the Oyster River Holiday Basketball Tourney and I have to think that that relationship played a huge role in providing the Volleyball team with a venue to get this semi-final played.

As a Red Raider sports fanatic, it broke my heart that the Spaulding Girls Basketball team of 2019-20 never got to play in the final last year due to the pandemic.

The D-II final was to be played against the Lebanon Raiders but never happened.

For the first time in contemporary history, the NHIAA named Co-Champions.

I'm always quick to insult and jeer any other NH High School team from the Seacoast (kind-heartedly of course), but I will NEVER besmirch the Oyster River Bobcats EVER AGAIN.

Salute!
