Incredible Photos Show Maine Firefighters Battling a Raging Snowplow Fire
It was a wild weekend in Orland, Maine, as the town's fire department battled a scary blaze. And it just happened to be during Maine's first winter storm of the season.
These incredibly graphic images of the plow truck fire were taken by local resident Dustin Bowden. He shared them with the Orland Fire Department and us to help show the public the violence and ferocity of this past weekend's incident.
According to the Orland Fire Department, crews responded to the fire in the early hours of December 17th. They arrived on scene to find the plow truck engulfed in flames. The department reported that both the plow truck's engine compartment and cab were heavily on fire.
Crews from numerous trucks were on scene to help fight the blaze. The department reported that it took about three hours to safely put out the fire, clean up the scene, and ready the trucks and gear for the next assignment. All-in-all, it sounded like a very successful morning for the department and its support staff. Just another day in the life of a firefighter.
A special thank you to Dustin Bowden for allowing us to share these dramatic images. They truly show the danger and unpredictable nature of fire. And a huge thank you to the Orland Fire Department and all first responders out there. It's truly comforting to know so many wonderful people are out there ready to keep us safe at a moment's notice.
