Spend a Saturday Swimming in Boston’s Charles River

Cannonball!  Yup, City Splash is back, and it's your opportunity to jump into the Charles River for a casual swim where you can splash around and enjoy some urban swimming.  Woo hoo!

The is the sixth one since 2013, and it returns June 18 from 12-4pm with an afterparty from 4-6pm.

The Charles River Conservancy is in charge of Boston's City Splash, and limits the number of us who can dive, flip, or jump into the Charles River. So, if you want it bad enough, you have to register.

City Splash takes place in Fiedler Field on the Esplanade, and has onshore events as well in case you prefer to stay dry on land.  Then, get ready for a delicious afterparty.

Registration for both City Splash and the Afterparty opens at 8am this Thursday, May 12, so get ready to jump online.  You can sign up for the swim, the afterparty, or both.  Signing up for the Charles River Conservancy newsletter gets you some extra love as well, with the registration link emailed directly to you.

Oh and don't worry, the Charles River is exceptionally clean.  You see, according to the Charles River Conservancy website, its first City Splash was in 2013, the first time in more than 50 years that a community swim was allowed.

Years of environmental health progress, most notably the EPA’s Charles River Initiative, cleaned up that dirty water, making it one of the cleanest urban rivers in the country.

The afterparty is at Night Shift Brewing’s Owl’s Nest on the Esplanade with plenty of  food, drinks, and conversation.  What a great way to meet new people and get to know the Charles River Conservancy, right on the beautiful banks of the Charles.
