Researcher Sandra Rehan is an assistant professor of biological sciences and organized the weekend event. Her research project, "Sustainable Solutions to Problems Affecting Bee Health", is assessing for the first time the Granite State's bee species.

The goals of the Bee Bioblotz are to document the diversity of bee species in the state, with a focus on native bees; to connect bee researchers from across New England; and to demonstrate bee surveys and research techniques to students and the public.

The event at Pisgah State Park in Winchester is free and open to the public.
