Let's talk money, baby.

Were you aware that some members of our state congress are estimated to be swimming in cash? Call me naïve, but I genuinely believed that working for the government didn't necessarily make you a millionaire.

I guess I was wrong because, according to this one article, a number of congress members are rolling in the dough.

An online publication from 2019 titled "76 Richest Members of Congress" by 247 WallSt" created a list revealing which Congress members boast estimated multimillion-dollar net worths.

Pure curiosity led me to scroll to where our Maine congresspeople were with their money bags.

Just a small disclaimer before diving into the numbers. Given that this list was published in 2019, and it's been four years since then, financial situations can certainly fluctuate. There may be differences compared to the time of the original list post.

Anyway, based on the list, let's start with Representative Chellie Pingree, a member of the U.S. House, who represents Maine's 1st Congressional District.

Chellie Pingree's estimated worth is $3.6 million, according to 24/7 WallSt. She is number 70 on their list.

Next up is Senator Angus King, the only independent rep on this list of millionaire congresspeople. He is a second-term senator and previously was the governor. How much is he worth?

Coming in at number 64, according to 24/7 WallSt, Angus King's net worth is estimated to be $3.8 million.

According to the 24/7 Wallst, the information about how much money members of Congress have comes from the 2018 Wealth of Congress report by CQ Roll Call.

If the government sees any of these floating around the 207, LEAVE THEM ALONE!
