Have you seen this? Coming out of Brownville, Maine one local family has put their deer on the viral map. Picture this, tons of deer having a meal, drawing in thousands of viewers each day, according to Portland Press Herald.

That’s exactly what the McMahon family is doing and has been doing for the past 17 years.

They feed deer on their property each morning, with oats, apples, and acorns to help them survive through Maine’s tough winter season. It started as just a few bags and the deer must’ve told their friends and now, there are tons of them, it’s now a large-scale dinner.

It’s like a food pantry for deer, complete with cameras that stream their mealtime to all of us on YouTube!

As per the article, one viewer, Brenda Grimes who watches this from her house in Waterville says  “It makes me so calm,”

The YouTube channel, called Brownville's Food Pantry For Deer, has attracted millions of viewing hours with a 160 videos posted so far. The views are from people around the world, especially during morning feeding time!

However, according to the article, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife say that even though feeding deer is legal, it’s not recommended.

And furthermore warn that concentrating deer around artificial food sources can actually disrupt the natural behaviors not help.

What do you think?

The McMahons say they follow guidelines about what foods are safe and share with others to always check with wildlife biologists before attempting similar feeding efforts with wildlife.

The yearly Brownville deer pantry remains a point of curiosity and conversation.
