Maine’s Smallest Oyster Bar Opened in Bath

Big restaurants are great, but sometimes the tiniest spots are the ones you remember. 

There is a teeny tiny Oyster Bar in Bath that is officially Maine's smallest and it's a must-visit!

Welcome to The Parlor in Bath, a brand-new oyster tasting room with a pretty impressive claim: it’s Maine’s smallest oyster bar, with room for just four people at a time. 

This is awesome. She is awesome, who is she?  Well, this is the latest project from Virginia Shaffer, the woman behind Lady Oyster Tours & Tastings.

Located at 1 Shaw Street, The Parlor opened in May. 

Shaffer is an award-winning oyster sommelier who has made it her mission to get people excited about Maine’s incredible oyster scene. 

And The Parlor is definitely more than your average place to grab a dozen oysters.

Guests can sit down for an intimate oyster tasting, sample different varieties, learn about where they come from, and discover how things like the farm and water can affect an oyster’s flavor. You can also pair your oysters with wine for the full experience. 

Not in the mood to stay? The Parlor also operates as a little oyster and wine market, so you can grab goodies to bring home. 

It’s open Thursday through Sunday from noon to 7:30 p.m.

Honestly, a four-seat oyster bar in Maine might be one of the most Maine things ever.
