There's really nothing better than people watching tourists when they come to Maine, it's absolutely hilarious.

As a former bartender in the Old Port who tended at some of the best staple bars in the city, here's the top 3 things that I found almost ever tourist becomes unraveled over.

Last call in Maine

1. Last call in any bar or restaurant (besides Rick's, a strip club), is very strictly at 12:45 a.m. and all doors must be shut to the pubic by 1 a.m.

It's usually the bachelor parties who talk back about this one because they're in full on vacation mode.

Do they sell liquor, wine, or beer in Maine grocery stores?

Yes. While I already know this information just from living here, here's more proof by park street that while Maine is a control state, grocery stores can sell beer, wine, and liquor.

2. Size matters. A lot of people probably would never think to look at it like this, but Maine is actually the largest of the six New England states.

Despite it feeling like it's the smallest because everybody knows everybody, there's more land here than you'd expect.

3. Stephen King. You know him as one of the most iconic novelists in horror, but Mainer's also consider him a native.

Did you know Mr. King used to be a high-school teacher before he figured out he's brilliant at creeping the hell out of people in novels and movies?

King is from Portland, Maine's largest city.
