No matter what state you are in, there are some iconic foods specific to that area. Just think of the barbecue in Texas or the crab cakes in Maryland

Now, Food Network says the lobster roll is the food that defines the Pine Tree State, and Food & Wine highlights the whoopie pie as Maine's representative dish.
These are certainly delicious, but we can dive deeper. Those are just the tip of the iceberg for Maine food and drinks.

The classic drink was created in 1884 by Maine native Dr. Augustin Thompson, according to Maine.gov, and it even became the official state soft drink in 2005.
