15 of the Best Maine Holiday Events That Will Get You in the Christmas Spirit
December is here! Snow has arrived in Maine, and the holidays are upon us.
Now, you just have to decide how Christmas-y you want to get.
Luckily, there's a ton of festive events, activities, parades, and light shows for you to pick from (or try and get to them all), and we've pulled together a list of 15 of them to help you pick.
Is Maine a Good Place to Visit for Christmas?
Yes, Maine is a great place to visit during the Christmas season.
Sure, the cold is cold and annoying, but thankfully, you can bundle up and keep warm. Putting that to the side, there's so much that makes the Pine Tree State an incredible place for the holidays.
One notable activity is checking out Gardens Aglow at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay.
This holiday light display, which has been ranked No. 1 best in the country a few times, has over 750,000 dazzling lights decked out across the gardens on the trees, trolls and pathways.
It's going on now through January 3, and you might even be able to see the burst of color against a white snowy backdrop.
Then there are parades like the one at the Freeport annual Sparkle Celebration, which has been going on for over 30 years!
According to Visit Freeport, the event takes place on December 5 from 6 to 7 p.m. and ends with Santa's arrival to bring the Talking Christmas Tree to life.
And those are just two things you can put on your list of things to do (and check twice.) Let's take a look at some of the other top-tier things you can check out to get you in the festive mood.
