The Roaming Foodie Accident

It's been a few weeks since Joey Calcavecchia, better known to New Englanders and even tourists that visit the area during summertime as The Roaming Foodie, was in a horrific crash in the North Andover, Massachusetts, area where he needed to be removed from his vehicle with the Jaws of Life.

Ever since the accident on Tuesday, May 14, Joey has been in the hospital. While there have been slight, occasional updates along the way, such as giving his parents a thumbs up during a visit a couple of weeks ago, there hasn't been any real significant update about Joey.

Until now.

The Roaming Foodie Recovery

In a message posted to the story of The Roaming Foodie account on Instagram by Joey's sister, Jenna, he looks to thankfully have taken a significant step forward on his path to recovery.

Joey is still in the hospital however he is no longer in the ICU. He is awake and talking minimally. The doctors and nurses are preparing him for rehabiliation.

The Roaming Foodie Brunch

While there has been a GoFundMe page to raise money in support of Joey's recovery in place since the day after his crash (which, at the time of this writing is swiftly approaching $120,000, showing the impact he's had on all of New England both as an influencer and overall good human), there's a major event happening this weekend to help raise more money.

No stranger to doing good things, New Hampshire celebrity chef Bobby Marcotte is hosting The Roaming Foodie Brunch this Sunday, June 9, at one of his businesses, The Barn at Merry Hill.

Can't make the brunch or wait to long to secure your tickets, since only 100 are being offered to attend? Either donate to the above-mentioned GoFundMe page, or more importantly, if you're a small business that wants to help, consider offering up a gift card or other auction item to help raise money toward Joey's recovery.

Just a bunch of good humans doing great things for a stellar human. Keep on crushing recovery, Joey! We're all rooting for you and can't wait to watch you stuff your face with deliciousness again to support local New England businesses and satisfy our cravings!
