This 50-Year-Old Iconic Massachusetts Daffodil Festival Is Worth a Road Trip
The 50th Annual Daffodil Festival is happening April 24 to 26 on Nantucket Island this spring, and honestly, it might be one of the happiest ways to welcome the season.
Hosted by the Nantucket Garden Club at the Nantucket Inn, this year’s theme says it all: “50 years of sunny faces, 50 years of smiles and cheer, 50 years of daffodils—still blooming year on year.”
It's an iconic festival that is definitely worth a road trip.

One of the highlights of the festival is the vintage car parade along Main Street.
Starting at noon, these beautifully restored cars make their way up Orange Street and out to ’Sconset, creating this perfect blend of nostalgia and springtime charm.
It’s hosted by the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce, and it’s such a fun way to experience the island.
There’s also no shortage of unique activities. The Daffy Hat Competition kicks off at 10 am on Saturday (and yes, you can join in), and it’s exactly as whimsical as it sounds.
Kids can take part in the Beach Bike Parade, and even your dog can join the fun in NiSHA’s Daffodil Dog Parade. There really is something for everyone.
And there’s even entertainment from the Morris dancers, which adds a little extra fun. But don't forget to pack your picnic blanket and basket full of snacks.

Spring has always felt like a deep breath to me- like the world is waking up again. And daffodils? They’re the first to show off. There’s just something about them that makes people smile without even trying. Maybe it’s their bright yellow color or the way they pop up so confidently after a long winter, but whatever it is, they feel like little bursts of sunshine.
I love bringing them into my home this time of year. Instant mood boost!
So to get a whole weekend devoted to a daffodil festival sounds amazing.
If you’re thinking about a spring day trip or even a full weekend escape, this is a pretty perfect excuse to head to Nantucket. Just be sure to book your ferry or hotel ahead of time.
